Practice Manager

Brett McPherson, CPM, FAAPM, Life Member – AAPM

Brett is the recipient of the Improvement Foundation - 2014 Quality Improvement Award and as part of the award attended the International Quality in Health Conference held in Paris ( April 2014).

Brett was awarded Life Membership at the AAPM / QIP 2013 National Conference for his commitment to AAPM over the past 20 years.

With more than 25 years of experience in health practice management Brett has extensive knowledge in all aspects practice management.

Brett trained and worked as a radiographer, before moving into practice management in 1989. He managed a large private radiology practice in Northern Tasmania for 14 years before moving to Melbourne in 2002. Prior to taking up this position at Collins Street Medical Centre, Brett managed a large GP and Allied Health / Specialist Practice in outer Melbourne for nearly 9 years.

Brett has a Post Graduate Diploma in Business ( Uni of Tasmania ), Further Education Teaching Certificate (Oxford, U.K.), attended Six Sigma (Green Belt) Training Program, is a Certified Practice Manager and Fellow of the Australian Association of Practice Managers - AAPM and is the immediate past National President of the AAPM. He is currently the President of the Victorian branch of the AAPM.

Among a number of advisory groups and committees representing practice managers, Brett is a member of DoHA PIP Advisory Committee, DOHA Practice Nurse Incentive Program Technical Working Party, Medicare Compliance Advisory Group, RACGP National Standing Committe - GP Advocacy and Support, INWMML - After Hours Advisory Committee and St Vincent's Hospital GP Liaison Panel.

Brett is regularly asked to speak at International, National, State and Regional conferences / seminars on topics around The Business of Medicine and General Practice, The Value of Practice Managers and Operational Efficiencies in Medical Practices.

Along with his wife Maggie, they are both passionate rugby followers and are Foundation Members of the Melbourne Rebels.
